The last painters we hired started the job and then left for a couple days. A five-day job took over two weeks to complete.
At Van Tuinen Painting, once the job is underway we’ll be there 8 hours a day until the job is finished and you are 100% satisfied.
Who actually does the painting/paperhanging?
A crew of 1-4 painters, depending on the scope of the project, will be assigned to your job. Our “Lead Painter” will communicate with you daily regarding questions, scheduling, progress, etc.
Do you have references?
We provide new customers with a substantial list of residential, commercial and industrial references upon request. We treasure our reputation and have a strong track record of over 40 years.
What kind of paint do you use?
Benjamin Moore, Pratt & Lambert and Sherwin Williams most of the time. Sometimes customer preference, the nature of the job and other factors warrant other brands. Whichever brand we use, we make certain it’s the best that manufacturer offers and appropriate for your project.
Why do painting/wallpaper hanging prices vary so much?
The cost of any project is determined by the thoroughness, attention to detail, time spent on surface preparation and experience level of the painter/paperhanger. Our detailed proposal will tell you all the steps we’ll take to complete the work to our high standards. We would rather do our work right the first time than deal with the cost of correcting the job later.
Are you insured?
We are fully insured, as required by the State of Michigan, with Workers Compensation and Liability Insurance. Additionally, we are licensed with the State of Michigan.
Can you help me with color selection?
Yes, in a couple of ways. We can advise you on many color decisions. Also, we can direct you to our paint dealers or a professional interior designer for more thorough color consultations.
What about drywall and plaster repairs and carpentry?
Our crews can take care of most minor drywall/plaster repairs. Also, we can refer you to qualified tradespeople for many other contracting services. In some cases, we’ll even arrange for a plasterer or carpenter to coordinate their work with us.
What about wallpaper hanging?
Fine wallpaper hanging is an art. Our wallpaper hangers know the numerous “tricks of the trade” which result in superior jobs. Also, we can direct you to either our paint dealers or interior designers to assist you in selecting wallpaper.
Do you only paint in Kalamazoo?
Most of our work is in the greater Kalamazoo area; however, we do travel up to 60 miles to serve our customers.
What size, type jobs do you specialize in?
We’re asked this often. Our company is small enough that our customers can count on us to do small or large residential jobs. Yet we frequently handle sizable commercial and industrial projects. Do you offer warranties?
Warranties (10-year, 15-year or 20-year) are available depending on which product you chose to use. We offer Conklin Benchmark, Conklin Puma, Sherwin Williams Uniflex.
