Interior staining and varnishing in your home is a great way to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. Varnishing can actually involve a varnish, clear urethane or lacquer finish.

Cabinets, doors, crown molding and entertainment centers are all great candidates for a beautiful stain and clear finish. We can stain and varnish new woodwork as well as refinish worn, aged woodwork to look like brand-new.

Our experienced craftsmen know that oak, maple, pine and other wood species accept the stain differently. We understand the tricks of the trade to ensure a beautiful and long-lasting finish.

We’ll clean the surfaces, remove any smudge marks, stain the wood in a manner that enhances its natural beauty, and generally apply two coats of the proper clear finish. We sand and clean the surface between coats of the varnish/urethane/lacquer. The resulting finish will be beautiful and durable.

What Does Stain Do?

Stain is the first step you can take to bring out the wood’s beauty. Wood stain is a type of finishing that is used to color wood by soaking pigment into wood fibers, it binds to the wood and can enhance the coloring. Stain is different than paint because it penetrates into the wood and is not just a surface coating.

Varnish

Varnish is thicker than lacquer, and typically applied with a brush. Varnish is a transparent, hard protective finish commonly used on wood to preserve the natural look of the grain. Varnish tends to have little or no color as opposed to paint or wood stain which contains pigment.
